Report de la marche pour l'éradication de la polio
Compte tenu des évènements sociaux, la Marche/Course contre la poliomyélite prévue pour le 28 Janvier 2024 est reportée à une date ultérieure.
One of the great prides of Rotarians is knowing that we belong to an organization whose impact throughout the world is concrete and undeniable.
Since 1985, Rotary members have rallied their communities to support efforts to eradicate polio and advocate for this cause with their governments, private businesses, international groups, and civil society.
To achieve this major public health objective, Rotary is collaborating with partners of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative – GPEI – and more particularly the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and donor governments.
Rotarians engage in this mission in multiple ways: by giving their time and money, raising funds, advocating for it with their government, and raising public awareness.
Rotary's contribution to the eradication effort has surpassed $1.6 billion to date (including contributions from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation).
Hundreds of thousands of volunteers also participate in National Immunization Days which take place each year.
Since 1988, more than two billion children have received the oral polio vaccine, and we have succeeded in reducing polio cases worldwide by 99.9%.
